Reblogged this on I hate Weight Loss and commented:
Funny that I stumble upon this today because I was going to write about confidence.
I don’t know how much weight I am losing or if I am at all but I have noticed a change in me that I think is worth sharing. Last night before going to bed I played some Celia Cruz and just salsad and merengued for about 20 minutes. Me sister was in the room but I did not care.
I don’t think I have ever let myself dance in public like that since I was eleven because I don’t think I have ever felt so confident. I wasn’t confident because I got professional dance lesson, mind you.
I don’t know if picked on is the right word to use but for lack of a better phrase I shall use t. I used to get picked on for random things when I was younger. The way I pursed my lips when I danced, my walk/catwalk, my extreme hourglass figure, my brown hair, my naturally lined eyes, my flair for the dramatic, my opinionated self, my singing, my love for drama and writing, the list goes on and on. The mistake I made was allowing those not-so-constructive-criticisms get to me. When I should have worked to enhance my talents, I made strong efforts to veil them. If I had put half the effort into growing my talents I am so sure that by now I would be on a higher level. But I didn’t.
Now I am learning to work for myself. Though I started this healthy lifestyle purely for physical reason it is working on other aspects I didn’t expect it to. I guess the change in lifestyle has become a fuel to turn my light back on.
Don’t let someone dim your lights, don’t dim your own light and do not force someone to dim theirs. there is enough room for all our talents to grow.

Is it too late to change the name of my blog? Cause I am starting to love weight loss.

I love your comment! Yes!! It’s exactly what I try to express throughout this entire site. 😊
It’s the re-awakening of all that we are and could be. Rewinding to a time before we melded into others’ perception of how we should be. Loving ourselves, not because we are a perfect dancer, but because no one else dances like us. We are at our most beautiful when we dance our dance with unabashed freedom and confidence.
      Loved hearing from you..Thank YOU!!

You’re welome. Getting back to the mindset of that time takes so much work but I think it is an important aspect of becoming and staying fit. Your posts usually push me to get up when I am being lazy. So thank you for the encouragement

Thank you again so much for your comment. Love hearing from you.
It’s my belief it is all the same. We have to constantly teach ourselves a new mindset, whether it’s to change our eating or “self-talk” habits. We just gotta keep fighting the good fight. πŸ™‚
