[trib_ndn vid=26208787]SAN DIEGO – A 91-year-old woman completed the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego marathon and made it into the record books Sunday.
Harriette Thompson finished running the 26.2 mile course in 7 hours, 7 minutes, 14 seconds. She became the oldest person to complete the marathon and set a world record for the fastest marathon time for her age group.
Thompson, who lives in North Carolina, was unable to race in the annual marathon last year due to being diagnosed with skin cancer. One year later, she said she’s still receiving treatment for the cancer.
To date, Thompson has raised $90,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
